Developing skills in literacy and numeracy underpin progress in all areas and the curriculum at the WASP Centre ensures that every pupil, in every key stage and year group, devotes at least 30% of their timetable to lessons in English and mathematics. All pupils will take appropriate examinations in these subjects according to their individual ability, from Functional Skills at Level 1 through to GCSEs. in addition to English and mathematics all pupils also follow programmes of study in PSHE, citizenship and growth mindset.
To compliment this core curriculum a wide range of optional subjects are on offer to our key stage 4 pupils. Pupils have the choice to undertake additional GCSE's in both science and history in conjunction with various BTEC qualifications (Sport, Activity & Fitness; Health & Social Care; Travel and Tourism; Public Services; Engineering; Food & Cookery and The Prince Trust Achieve Programme).
At KS3, pupils have the opportunity to follow more creative subjects such as art and music.
All pupils also have regular sport and exercise sessions on their timetable.
